NEWSLETTER FOR EWINGS CHAPTER SAR

The next meeting of Ewings Chapter SAR will be at the Shade Senior Citizens Center in Shade OH on  FRIDAY,February 25, beginning at 6:30 P.M. The program will be an oration by Sara Patterson. This is is an event that none of us have experienced in the past. I suggest that you attend and enjoy this seldom experienced event.

WOW! HEY! Have you received the Fall SAR Magazine? If so, look on Page 32! Through the efforts of Tom Romine our new Registrar, Ewings Chapter is featured at the September Parade in Pomeroy with POW Jessica Lynch. Thank you Tom for your dedication.

WE DID IT!!!!  VETERANS DAY PARADE: Many thanks to Tom Romine and his drum and Dale Colburn who held the other end of the Banner. And, many thanks to John Snyder driving his "stars and stripes" pick up in the parade.

One of the most important factors in most organizations is COMMITMENT. To commit is to pledge yourself to a certain purpose or conduct. It also means practicing that purpose or conduct consistantently. There are fundamental conditions for commitment: A: Having a sound set of beliefs. Does the SAR provide you with the necessary goals and purposes to reinforce your beliefs in the SAR? B. The faithful adherence to those beliefs with your behavior.

Check your Membership Certiicate! Do you find "honorary" anywhere on that certificate? Unfortunately, many members consider themselves "honorary" and feel that it is unimportant to contribute any time or effort toward their chapter activites.Think Carefully!

How would your Revolutionary ancestor judge your commitment and service to Ewings Chapter in his honor?

Ewings Chapter SAR has been awarded the OHSSAR DISTINGUISHED CHAPTER AWARD for the 2008-2009 year. One of 6 chapters in Ohio to be so awarded based upon 11 criteria. Congratulations to Ewings Chapter and especially to President James Mason Smith and Diana! There is a photo of this award on the site. To those compatriots who have not attended recent meetings, you have no idea how valuable this award is to the chapter and Ewings intends to pursue this award this next year.
Also, Samantha Patterson, sponsored by Ewings Chapter, won the OHSSAR State Knight Essay Contest.

Compatriot James Mason Smith and wife Diana are due the Ewings chapter's heartfelt thanks and appreciation for holding the chapter together for 3 long years. "Above and beyond the call!"
